Construction

All SX Surfboards are applied with extra layers of fiberglass cloth to provide the high strength, so the lighter weight EPS core can be used to reduce the weight of the board. This is the reason why SX surfboards are strong and light weighted. 12oz fiberglass on the deck and 12oz fiberglass on the bottom is much higher than the average of the market. Solid wood stringer also provide more strength than laminated wood stringer. All the materials are top grade, which makes the boards are more durable than other brands.
Shape

As the name suggested Mini mals(Funboards) are smaller version of Mals(long boards). The smaller size sacrifices a little bit stability and wave catchablity, but gains more control and maneuverability. It also makes the board more manageable when you are off the water. When trimming along a wave, rider can comfortably shift their weight forward due to the rounded nose design. The squash tail increases the surface area in the tail, which generates more lift, so the board can be easier to plane and maintain speed.
Rail

50/50 Full soft rail
Full soft rail is applied to SX mini mals, which means this board is more stable, easier to catch waves and better in maintaining speed. Fuller rails are harder to sink, so they have more potential for leverage. Soft rails provide a smoother, more forgiving response. the water tends to bend around their subtle curve rather than breaking away. You are less likely to catch an edge and bog the rails into on sloppier wave face.
Rocker

Low rocker
Rocker is one of the most important criteria to determine the performance of a surfboard. Rocker of this fish board is designed to be low, so the water can move quickly under the bottom of the board. More surface area on top of the water allows the rider to generate more speed when paddling and surfing.
Bottom Contour
The bottom contour of this board is single concave to double concave. The single concave starts from the middle of the board, contains water flow through the length of the board rather than allowing the water to release from the rails. It helps to produce lift and speed while you are up on your feet and riding the wave. It will also help to set your rail into the face of the wave. This gives you both control and lift, keeping you on top of the wave while surfing. The double concave starting in front of the fins, helps redirect the flow of water under your tail and around your fins, also helping to create lift under your back foot.
Choose your surfboard by volume
If you are a beginner, and don’t know what kind of surfboard should you choose. The answer would be “Choose your surfboard by volume”
What does volume mean? It tells you how much buoyancy a board has. The more buoyancy a board has, the higher it carries you above the water, the less drag there will be when you paddle. If you stay high in the water, you can move faster to catch more waves. It really helps to build confidence when you just start surfing. When we see new surfers struggle in the waves, most of the time, it’s just because they chose the wrong board.
There are two factors to determine what board you should choose: your weight and your skill level:
